Carbon Emissions Concern 1 in 2 CIOs

The majority of these executives draw a connection between ESG factors, sustainability and business value.

CIOs are increasing technology investments, and they are doing so with an environmental strategy in mind. This is according to the Logicalis CIO 2023 Report.

According to the data collected, carbon emissions are among the top concerns of 49% of CIOs.

An even higher percentage, 92%, see a connection between ESG (environmental, social and governance factors), sustainability and business value.

Sustainable goals are becoming another tool for business survival.

“We see more and more organisations realising the urgency to act because of regulatory pressure,” says Pablo Carrillo, Territory Sales Director at Logicalis Spain, “but also because they see sustainability as a way to drive business benefits. Sustainability goes much further than that.

Companies with environmental strategies report improvements in marketing (55%), customer attraction and retention (52%) and meeting employee expectations (45%).

Alongside this phenomenon is the rise of managed services, for the implementation and management of technology-enabled sustainable processes.

“Eventually, the role of IT providers in the technology domain is a critical factor in bringing together all sustainable transformation efforts in organisations,” says Pablo Carillo.

“A good sustainability strategy involves identifying the criteria for selecting IT suppliers,” he says, “as well as establishing ways to evaluate them against the sustainability credentials of digital products.
