Craftsman Recruiting 2.0

Julian Jehn from Jehn & Peters reveals why ChatGPT can make the difference when recruiting employees.

Technologies based on artificial intelligence simplify everyday life for companies in many areas. ChatGPT is causing quite a stir. The text creation tool has become an integral part of work processes in many companies – including in the search for employees. Around 80 per cent of HR managers say they regularly use AI to save time.

Reason enough for craft businesses to utilise ChatGPT’s capabilities to combat the shortage of skilled workers. There are a few tasks in the recruitment process that ChatGPT is particularly good at.

Get to know the strengths and weaknesses of the tool

ChatGPT is a powerful tool – but only if you know how to use it. Otherwise, the texts produced will be mediocre at best and not suitable for professional use. This is why companies should have their employees responsible for recruitment trained in how to use the AI tool. In addition to the strengths and weaknesses of the technology, they should also discuss how the commands, also known as prompts, need to be formulated in order to obtain usable results.

Generate text structures

A helpful function of ChatGPT is the generation of text structures, which are then supplemented with specific data. For example, the AI can be used to generate the framework of a careers page for the company’s homepage. This ensures that the structure is coherent and professional. Applicants can also find all the information they need in one place.

Have standard letters formulated

In the course of a recruitment process, a number of letters need to be drafted. For example, applicants receive invitations to interviews or rejection letters if the company has decided in favour of another candidate. Information letters on how to proceed are also commonplace. A company can have all standard letters formulated by ChatGPT with little effort. As a result, communication with applicants always follows the same pattern and in a professional manner, which inevitably improves the company’s public image.

Have instructions created for social media

In times of staff shortages and a lack of skilled labour, companies need to make every effort to find new employees. This also includes a well-maintained online presence. After all, this is where many young employees are looking for potential employers. However, many companies fail to set up the relevant company accounts. This is where ChatGPT can step in. On request, the AI can create step-by-step instructions that guide you through the process in sufficient detail.

Have advertising texts written

Whether a potential employee is drawn to an advert depends on many factors that determine interest or disinterest within milliseconds. This includes the message itself, but also the vocabulary and the tone of voice. ChatGPT can help to strike exactly the right tone in advertising texts to suit the target group. Nevertheless, the tool should only be seen as an aid, which is why it is always advisable to have it checked by a member of staff before publication.
