UniCredit to Accelerate Digital Transformation with Google Cloud

Major bank to leverage Google Cloud’s infrastructure, artificial intelligence, and data analytics solutions
For UniCredit, the agreement with Google Cloud represents a significant investment in its cloud infrastructure. To this end, the bank will migrate large parts of its application landscape and outdated systems to the scalable platform. As part of the agreement, the 13 banks within the UniCredit Group will gradually transition to Google Cloud. This will enable a unified foundation with greater scalability and agility.
Vertex AI Platform
In addition, UniCredit will adopt Google Cloud as its new platform for AI applications, utilising AI capabilities such as the Vertex AI platform and Gemini models. With these technologies, the bank aims to develop new services, increase internal efficiency, and enhance customer experiences – with potential applications in areas such as investment banking analytics, customer communication, process automation, the fight against financial crime, and the development of new AI-powered financial products.
“The partnership with Google Cloud is a bold step for us – a quantum leap in critical technological areas such as AI, data, and virtualised infrastructure across our 13 core markets,” said Ali Khan, Group Digital & Information Officer at UniCredit. “At the same time, it meets the highest standards of cybersecurity and resilience.”
Comprehensive Training
As part of the agreement, Google Cloud will provide UniCredit employees in all 13 European markets with comprehensive training in digital skills for both IT and business. The aim of this joint initiative is to promote the knowledge, training, and digital mindset required to fully embrace the era of cloud- and AI-driven banking and to unlock UniCredit’s digital potential.
