Elon Musk: “Starlink Resists Russian Attempts at Cyberwarfare”.

Musk himself donated thousands of Starlink kits for satellite Internet access to Ukraine.

When shortly after the Russian invasion of Ukraine began, communications were severely affected, one of those who helped to avoid this situation was Elon Musk, founder and CEO of Starlink. Musk was responding to a request made by Mikhail Fedorov, Ukraine’s Minister of Digital Transformation.

With a constellation that already reaches 12,000 satellites, Starlink, dependent on SpaceX, the private space company also founded by Musk, offers global Internet access and is proving to be a valuable tool in the Ukrainian resistance against the invasion, but precisely for that reason, it is becoming the target of Russian hackers’ attacks.

This has been stated by Elon Musk, who recognizes the efforts being made by Russian authorities to try to “silence and hack” the Starlink system, although he also assures that all these cyber-attacks are being met with sufficient resistance so that the satellite Internet access service is not interrupted and, therefore, Ukraine continues to access the Internet without problems.

Starlink’s access kits allow direct connection to the constellation’s satellites through a small satellite dish so that neither terrestrial infrastructure (copper cables, fiber optics) nor cellular infrastructure (4G, 5G) is necessary to access the Internet.
