Little Blockchain Technology in German Companies
According to the Ifo Institute survey, 6.9 percent of companies currently use blockchain technology for their business processes or plan to use it.
According to the Ifo Institute survey, however, there seems to be a general openness to this technology. After all, 18.7 percent of the companies surveyed say they would consider introducing it.
Major industry differences
“The manufacturing sector is comparatively far along when it comes to using blockchain,” says ifo industry expert Anna Wolf. There, 12 percent of companies use the technology or plan to use it, and almost every fourth company is discussing it. The chemical industry is particularly advanced in terms of blockchain. There, 14 percent of companies use the technology for their business processes.
Surprisingly, in the automotive industry, only 13 percent of companies are using blockchain technology, according to the survey, and one in five is planning to use it. Among manufacturers of food and animal feed, printed matter, data processing equipment, electrical equipment, furniture and in mechanical engineering, this applies to one in ten companies.
